Abstract
The Public Service Commission (PSC) Library of Nepal which plays a critical role in
governance, serving as a resource hub for policymakers, researchers, and public
servants. It provides legislative documents, research materials, and administrative
guidelines, facilitating informed decision-making and evidence-based policy
formulation.
This study is conducted with the objective of examining the status of Public Service
Commission’s Library and to identify the requirements of library users of Public
Service Commission regarding the resources and services. Data was collected using
observation and questionnaire method. as the major finding of the study was a user
friendly environment, reliable reference materials, and efficient cataloging systems.
However, challenges include insufficient digital resources, inadequate ICT
infrastructure, outdated physical facilities, limited staff, and budgetary constraints,
hindering the adoption of best practices.
Recommendations include improving ICT integration with better internet connectivity
and advanced library systems, and providing regular staff training. Expanding digital
collections and fostering collaborations with other libraries can enhance resource
sharing and innovation.
This research underscores the PSC Library’s potential to evolve into a modern, user
centric institution supporting policy development, administrative efficiency, and
academic research. Addressing these challenges and implementing proposed
strategies will ensure the library remains a vital resource for Nepal’s public service
sector.
